Sewit Araia

Founder & CEO

Sewit Araia is the Founder and CEO of ACM Analytics. With more than a decade of data analytics and management experience, Sewit is dedicated to providing insight and custom-tailored solutions to clients. Her passion for leadership and data analytics allows her to understand complex problems and provide guidance and solutions using various data analytic techniques.

 

Prior to her leadership role at ACM Analytics, Sewit was a Senior Program Manager at Integrity Management Services. Her interpersonal approach to leadership allowed her to successfully manage various multi-million program integrity contracts as a sub-contractor with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. She also managed data analytics contracts with the United States Air Force, States and many more. Sewit has extensive knowledge of healthcare claims data and healthcare analytics. Sewit’s expertise does not stop there; she co-authored and presented her work on fraud analytic methods alongside fellow founder Dr. Paulo Macedo at the National Health Care Anti-Fraud Association 2016 Annual Conference.

 

Sewit’s desire to understand how data intertwines with our healthcare and well-being led her to work as a guest researcher with the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), where she co-authored a peer-reviewed paper on post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms in urban police officers.

 

Outside of the office, Sewit is a wife and mother of two. She is active in her community and enjoys spending time with her family.

 

Sewit holds a Master’s degree in Public Health with an Epidemiology and Biostatistics concentration from West Virginia University.

Maggie Chang

Founder & COO/CFO

Maggie Chang is the Founder and COO/CFO of ACM Analytics. With over 19 years of data mining, data analytics, and statistical analytics experience, she is passionate about innovating new ways of transforming data into information that drives decision-making. In partnership with Co-President, Sewit Araia, she leads the company to achieve its mission.

 

Maggie possesses over 12 years of comprehensive knowledge in Medicare & Medicaid claims data and has extensive experience with an array of analytical software tools such as SAS EBI tools (SAS Enterprise Guide, SAS Enterprise Miner, Web Report Studio, SAS Studio), Base SAS, SAP BusinessObjects, SQL, Teradata Studio Express, ArcGIS, and SPSS.

 

Prior to her leadership role at ACM Analytics, Maggie was a Data Scientist at Integrity Management Services. She conducted and led numerous data mining, data analytics, sampling and extrapolations, geographic analyses, and data coaching/training to detect fraud, waste, and abuse for contracts with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Maggie pioneered the automation of algorithms to generate 5,000 individualized provider comparative billing reports monthly. She also played a major role in assisting the company in reaching FISMA compliance and being awarded an Authority to Operate (ATO). She also served as the Conference Chair for the 16th Annual Medicare & Medicaid Statistical and Data Analysis Conference in 2012.

 

Outside of the office, Maggie is a wife, a mother of two, and an active Girl Scout volunteer. She enjoys classical singing, traveling, and learning new languages. Though a native-born New Yorker, she can speak Cantonese and Mandarin, and some Korean.

 

Maggie holds a Master’s degree in Public Health with an Epidemiology concentration from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Albany and a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Paulo Macedo

Founder & Chief Analytics Officer

Mr. Paulo Macedo is the Founder and Chief Analytics Officer at ACM Analytics. With over 30 years of experience in econometric modeling and applied statistics, Paulo is particularly interested in using statistical methods from different domains of knowledge to fraud detection. His goal is to understand the finer points of data analytics and communicate insights drawn from diverse subject matters.

 

Paulo is a subject matter expert (SME) in various statistical techniques, machine learning algorithms, big data, and data analytics. He has over 30 years of extensive experience with statistical software tools such as SAS, R, Stata, and business intelligence platforms, namely SAP Business Objects and SAS EBI. Previously, he used econometric-related software, such as SPACETAT (modeling of spatial patterns) and FRONTIER (modeling of stochastic production functions to evaluate productivity trends), to analyze microeconomic data for 15 years.

 

Prior to his role as Chief Analytics Officer at ACM Analytics, Paulo was a Senior Statistician at Integrity Management Services. He extensively used data analytics models to support the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) efforts to enforce compliance with regulations by providers in the healthcare government programs. His focus was to identify healthcare industry patterns and trends. He authored various papers on statistical methods for analyzing health care data and implemented several statistical sampling plans for medical review and subsequent extrapolations.

 

Besides reading technical papers related to his professional activities, Paulo also enjoys reading books about science - especially cosmology.

 

Paulo Macedo holds a Ph.D. in Economics from New York University.
